MagView Live Retrieve Module
MagView Live Retrieve allows the radiologist to retrieve images to their reading workstation from PACS storage based on a patient that is selected in MagView. This helps the radiologist work more efficiently when images for a case they are reading are not available on their reading workstation for any reason.
IMAGES NOT AVAILABLE?
In many PACS workflows, images may not be available on the radiologist workstation at the time the radiologist wants to read the study. This can happen for several reasons. The storage space available on the reading workstation does not allow imaging studies to be stored permanently, so a mechanism is typically in place to periodically remove imaging studies to make room for newer studies sent to the workstation.
This means that images for an older case, or one that is added, are not available on the reading workstation at the time they are needed. In some cases, the images are routed to a different workstation than the one where the radiologist wants to read the study. Typically, when this happens, a PACS administrator or other staff needs to manually intervene to identify the necessary study and request the study be transferred from the archive or long term storage to the requested workstation. This usually results in a significant delay from the time the radiologist needs the images to the time they are available on the workstation to be read.
The MagView Live Retrieve Module is designed to solve this problem. If the radiologist finds that the needed images are not available on their workstation, they can click the Retrieve Images button from within MagView. In this case, MagView initiates a DICOM C-Move request to the PACS system, and the images are directly sent to the workstation.
The MagView Live Retrieve feature has many benefits:
- Reduces time to report
- Creates more efficient reading workflow
- Reduces Radiologist wait time
- Improves prior comparison workflow
- Reduces burden on PACS Team
- Compatible with most PACS systems
- Works in mixed vendor environments
- Configurable to a single workstation or all viewing workstations at a location
- Custom routing rules available
