The Hoag Hospital Breast Care and Imaging Center is a state of the art breast imaging and
treatment center serving the needs of Orange County California and surrounding areas. Hoag has
developed a multidisciplinary team of physicians allowing for extensive review and treatment
planning tailored to the needs of their patients. Hoag's team of breast specialists
includes radiologists, surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons, social workers and
a breast health educator.
Hoag provides a full range of diagnostic imaging services, including screening and diagnostic mammography
(digital and analog), dedicated breast ultrasound, DEXA bone densitometry, image-guided percutaneous needle biopsies
(ultrasound and stereotactically guided), image-guided needle localization for surgical excision, as well as breast
MRI and MRI-guided intervention. The Hoag breast center performs 55,000 imaging studies annually, at five facilities.
Hoag developed their breast center utilizing state of the art imaging and information technology solutions, including
the first direct-to-digital mammography and a dedicated high-field strength breast MRI services to be offered in Orange
County.
After a comprehensive review process, Hoag selected MagView as their Breast Imaging Information System. MagView
has been integrated into Hoag's complex information technology environment, and has created interfaces between MagView and
their existing HIS, RIS, dictation system and digital workstations, designed to achieve Hoag's optimal workflow.
MagView's structured reporting system is being used by the radiologists at Hoag to create ninety-six percent of all breast
imaging reports generated, resulting in more uniform reporting, the immediate availability of reports, and a significant
cost savings through the elimination of transcription.
